Un thème lancé cette fois-ci par Julie. On dirait que de Défi en Défi, le thème devient de plus en plus difficile, et le concept doit être étudié chaque fois avec plus d’attention que la fois précédente. Un vrai challenge !
C’est d’ailleurs ce que j’ai fait, et en bonne ancienne élève d’études de graphisme (avec Julie), j’avais gardé mon gros livre sur l’Art Contemporain, du cours d’Histoire de l’Art, dans lequel j’ai puisé mon inspiration…J’adore le style « comics » des oeuvres de Lichtenstein : coloré et tragique à la fois, je me suis donc amusée à reproduire son style.

Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) est une des figures majeures du Pop Art américain.
En 1961, au moment de l’éclosion du mouvement, il a l’idée de peindre l’agrandissement d’une image de bande dessinée choisie dans un magazine. C’est le point de départ de toute une série réalisée à partir de bandes dessinées et d’images publicitaires qu’il poursuit jusqu’en 1964. Lichtenstein est fasciné par l’efficacité de ces représentations populaires où les objets et les passions sont réduits à un essentiel accessible et anonyme qui lui paraît d’une vitalité bien supérieure à l’Expressionnisme abstrait, lequel sombrait alors dans l’académisme.
Il a décrit lui-même le Pop Art comme « n’étant pas une peinture américaine, mais une peinture industrielle ».

Parmi les nombreuses oeuvres d’art détruites dans le World Trade Center, lors des attentats du 11 septembre 2001, un tableau de Roy Lichtenstein de The Entablature Series a été détruit dans l’incendie.

A theme chosen by Julie this time. It looks like from Challenge to Challenge, the theme becomes harder and harder, and the concept must be studied every time with more attention than the previous time. A real challenge indeed !
It’s once again what I did, and as a good student of graphism (with Julie), I had kept my big book on the Contemporary Art, from which I had my inspiration… I like the « comics » style of the works of Lichtenstein : colored and tragic at the same time, I thus enjoyed reproducing his style.

Roy Lichtenstein ( 1923-1997 ) is one of major figures of the Pop American Art.
In 1961, at the time of the hatching of the movement, he has the idea to paint the increase of an image of comic strip chosen in a magazine. It is the point of departure of a whole series realized from comic strips and of advertising images which he pursues until 1964. Lichtenstein is fascinated by the efficiency of these popular representations where objects and passions are reduced to the accessible and anonymous main part which appears to him of a vitality much superior to the abstract Expressionism, which sank then into the academicism.
It described itself the Pop Art as  » not being an American painting, but an industrial painting « .

Among the numerous works of art destroyed in the World Trade Center, during the attacks of September 11th, 2001, a picture of Roy Lichtenstein de The Entablature Series was destroyed in the fire.
