Dernières photos de Padangbai et visite de Klungkung et son marché typique, puis le Temple/ Palais de Justice magnifique, dans lequel on ne peut rentrer qu’avec un sarong noué à la taille.
Par respect pour la religion hindouiste, dans tous les temples que nous avons visité à Bali, nous avions notre sarong.
On en a donc acheté un chacun, à défaut d’en louer à chaque fois, puis j’en ai racheté 2 (quand je savais mieux marchander) à la fin du séjour.

Last photos of Padangbai and visit of Klungkung and its typical market, then the Temple / magnificent Law court, into which we can go only with a sarong tied around the waist.
By respect for the Hindu religion, in all the temples which we visited in Bali, we had our sarong.
We thus bought one each, for lack of renting for it every time, then I bought back 2 (when I knew better how to haggle) at the end of the stay.:)

Après Padangbai, nous avons filé à Ubud pour 5 jours : au centre de l’île, donc plus de bord de mer, mais des paysages à couper le souffle de beauté, des rizières en terrasse, et surtout des dizaines de balades à faire, à pied ou en voiture avec chauffeur, seuls ou avec d’autres touristes.

After Padangbai, we went to Ubud for 5 days: in the center of the island, thus no more seaside, but the breathtaking landscapes of beauty, ricefields terraces, and especially tens of strolls to be made, on foot or by car with driver, alone or with other tourists.


7è au 11è jour : UBUD

Nous avons eu en tout 3 hôtels différents pour nos 5 jours passés à Ubud.
1er hôtel pas réservé à l’avance, mais conseillé par la créatrice et responsable française du centre de plongée de Padangbai : Ikan Dive.
Le Sagittarius Inn, en plein milieu de la Monkey Forest road ne paye pas de mine à voir l’entrée…
Mais passée la réception, ce n’est qu’une succession de jolis bungalows à 2 étages, au milieu d’un jardin luxuriant (tout est luxuriant à Bali : c’est vert!!) et une jolie piscine entourée de transats et d’un coin bibliothèque clôt la marche.
Notre chambre pour la nuit donnait sur la piscine et était très agréable.

We had 3 different hotels for our 5 days spent in Ubud.
1st not reserved hotel in advance, but advised by the creator and the French person in charge of the center of dive of Padangbai: Ikan Dive.
Sagittarius Inn, in the middle of Monkey Forest road doesn’t seem to be nice, seeing the entrance…
But spent the reception, it is only a succession of attractive 2 floors bungalows, in the middle of a luxuriant garden (everything is luxuriant in Bali: it is green!!) and an attractive swimming pool surrounded with deckchairs and with a library corner closes the walking.
Our room for night looked onto the swimming pool and was very pleasant.

Visites de Temples à gogo…je ne me souviens plus de tous les noms ni lieux…mais c’est vers Ubud, au fil de nos balades en voiture avec chauffeur (tous les hôtels proposent leurs circuits, mais le Sagittarius Inn avaient des prix très intéressants, 13€ par personne pour une journée complète!)

Visits of Temples in abundance…I don’t remember anymore all the names nor the places but it’s towards Ubud, in the course of our strolls by car with driver (all the hotels propose their circuits, but Sagittarius Inn had very interesting prices, 13€ a person for a whole day!)

Nous avons bien évidemment passé notre première après-midi à Ubud dans la Monkey Forest : emplie de macaques gris!
Déjà qu’au départ j’adore les singes (en plus d’aimer tous les animaux, oui je suis Brigitte Bardot bis, et j’assume), les macaques gris sont très expressifs, mais peuvent être assez agressifs!
Comme ils sont très intelligents, ils ont compris il y a moult que touriste = bananes….ils ne sont donc pas farouches!
Adrien et moi avons eu la chance d’assister à un moment de pure déconnade entre eux dans un plan d’eau!

Un jeune macaque a d’ailleurs essayé de me voler mon panama que je tenais à la main, et lui résistant, ce chenapan m’a pincé le pouce avec ses dents, assez fort pour que jai mal!
Il a fini par filer, mais ils sont très facétieux et rigolos!!!
Si vous allez à Bali, c’est une belle balade à faire, on ne voit pas le temps passer à les observer.


We naturally spent our first afternoon to Ubud in Monkey Forest : filled with grey macaques!
Already that at first I like the monkeys (besides liking all the animals, yes I am Brigitte Bardot twice, and I assume), the grey macaques are very meaning, but can be rather aggressive!
How they are very intelligent, they understood long time ago that tourists = bananas…they are not thus wild!
Adrien and I were lucky to attend at a moment of pure amusement between them

A young macaque moreover tried to steal me my Panama which I held the hand, and resisting to him, this rascal pinched me the thumb with its teeth, rather hardly so that it hurts!
He then ran away, but they are very facetious and funny!!!
If you go to Bali, it is a beautiful stroll to be made, we do not see the time spending observing them.


Deuxième jour : changement pour l’hôtel Honeymoon Guesthouse….le plus bel endroit où j’ai dormi de toute ma jeune existence!
Une chambre/salle de bal, avec salle de bain « en plein air » et grande terrasse privée, luxe, confort, charme, le tout avec vue sur la piscine et encore de la verdure…je m’y suis sentie comme chez moi, et ai adoré m’endormir dans un grand lit à baldaquin sous la moustiquaire.
On avait la chambre « Laxmi Deluxe A » si vous voulez vous faire une idée via leur site. Je ne regrette pas d’avoir réservé par avance : on aurait pas forcément atterri là par hasard sur place.

The second day: change for the hotel Honeymoon Guesthouse the most beautiful place where I slept of all my young existence!
A room / room of ball, with  » outdoor  » and big bathroom private terrace, luxury, comfort, charm, the whole with a view of the swimming pool and still of the greenery I felt at home there, and liked sleeping in a big four-poster bed under the mosquito net.
We had the room « Laxmi Deluxe A » if you want to have an idea via their site. I do not regret having reserved in advance: we would not necessarily have landed there by chance on the spot.

Nous avons passé une journée géniale, avec un Bike Tour de 25km (de descente : il ne fallait que freiner avec un guide balinais super, très sympathique et cultivé, qui nous a successivement fait découvrir :
– Une plantation de cacao, café, thé, cannelle et épices de toutes sortes (j’ai d’ailleurs rapporté plein d’épices et des gousses de vanille à Paris);
– Une maisonnée balinaise typique, en nous expliquant le rôle de chacun au sein de la famille, les rites, les coutumes, leur religion (hindouiste), les offrandes…passionant et très gros fou rire à la vue d’un poster IRON MAIDEN sur une des maisons;
– Une rizière où travaillent des femmes à la récolte du riz, travail oh combien difficile, mais qu’elles effectuent avec beaucoup de grâce.

On a terminé cette super balade par un déjeuné buffet de nourriture typique délicieux. A faire absolument, c’est magique et on en garde des souvenirs de paysages et de rencontres avec des gens authentiques!
Notre meilleure journée à Adrien & moi, sans hésiter! On y a fait la connaissances de touristes australiens, allemands et un belge, on a parlé avec tout le monde, pioché des conseils précieux dans leurs expériences de Bali..vraiment enrichissant.

We spent a brilliant day, with Bike Tour of 25km (of descent: you should only slow down (brake) with a great, very nice and cultivated Balinese guide, who successively made us discover:
– A cocoa plantation, coffee, tea, cinnamon and spices of all kinds (I moreover brought back full of spices and of vanilla pods in Paris);
– A household typical Balinese, in us explicant the role of each within the family, the rites, the customs, their religion (Hindu), the offerings passionant and very big giggle in the view of an IRON MAIDEN poster on one of the houses;
– A ricefield where women work on the harvest of the rice, the work is how much difficult, but which they realize with a lot of grace.

We ended this great stroll by one lunched delicious typical buffet of food.
To make absolutely, it is magic and one on guard memories of landscapes and meetings with authentic people!
Our best day to Adrien and I, without hesitating! We got acquainted of Australian, German tourists there and a Belgian, we spoke with everybody, dug up the precious advices into their experiences of really enriching Bali.

Le Bali Bird Park a également été l’occasion d’une aprèm entière de shooting en discontinue!
Plus de 1000 oiseaux, dont 250 espèces d’oiseaux différentes, une végétation variée et magnifique, vision de rêve d’un paon BLANC (albinos apparemment, je ne savais même pas que ça existait) qui a fait sa plus belle roue pour nous, des câlins avec un Cacatoès qui savait dire « Helloooo » que j’ai pu caresser, et qui est même venu de lui-même sur ma main!
J’étais au paradis!!

The Bali Bird Park was also the opportunity of a whole afternnon of photos shooting!
More than 1000 birds, about which 250 different species of birds, a varied and magnificent vegetation, perfect vision of a WHITE peacock (albino apparently, I didn’t even know that existed) who made the most beautiful wheel for us, cuddles with a Cockatoo which knew how to say « Helloooo » whom I was able to caress, and he even came on my hand!
I was in paradise!!

Lui il savait dire « Hellooo » et il était très doux à caresser! Il est venu de lui-même sur ma main, j’étais super contente!!!

Dernier hôtel, charmant et vraiment perdu au milieu des rizières : le Nick’s hidden cottages.
A 10 bonnes minutes à pied de la rue principale d’Ubud, sur un chemin caillouteux et mal éclairé, on y était au calme complet!
J’y ai d’ailleurs vécu 1h30 de panique, avec une coupure de courant dans TOUT BALI! Adrien dinait dehors, moi j’avais déjà mangé et ai voulu aller me détendre à l’hôtel, me doucher et lire en l’attendant.
Il avait plu toute la journée à torrents (là bas ça ne rigole pas la pluie!) du coup surement le poids de l’eau sur les câbles électriques…Et Bim : noir TOTAL! Apparemment ça arrive souvent…
Je suis allée me réfugier à la réception, où j’ai papoté avec les employés balinais, qui avaient installés des bougies.
C’était assez folklorique!

Last hotel, charming and really lost in the middle of ricefields: « Nick hidden cottages ».
10 good minutes on foot far from the main street of Ubud, on a rocky and badly lit road, we were for the complete peace there!:)
I moreover lived there 1:30 of panic, with a power cut in ALL BALI!
Adrien was having dinner outside, I had already eaten and wanted to go to relax to the hotel, to have a shower and to read by waiting for him.
It had rained all day long in torrents (there when it rains, it rains!) and maybe the weight of the water on electric cables… And TADAAA: TOTAL black!
Apparently that often arrives…
I went to take refuge on the loby, where I chatted with the Balinese employees, who had installed some candles.
It was rather folk!

Dernier et 12è jour : KUTA

Si tu aimes le surf, que tu es Australien, que tu vas dîner au resto torse nu, que tu ne bois que de la bière, vis en tongs et bermuda et que tu es blond décoloré : cette ville tape-à-l’oeil, repère de touristes cheap, est faite pour toi!

On a juste détesté l’ambiance (on se fait emmerder toutes les 2 secondes sur la plage : « Paréo? », « glaces? », « bijoux? », « massage? »), les rues sont emplies de Topshop, Starbucks et Surf shops clinquants pour touristes blindés…Berk.
Pas indispensable de croiser 3 Starbucks au km² à Bali je trouve.
Seul le coucher de soleil était beau et à voir, mais sinon on a pas aimé du tout Kuta.
Une journée était même trop tellement c’est moche et bruyant.

Heureusement on a pris un hôtel charmant pour notre dernière nuit (trouvé dans le Lonely Planet en arrivant là bas) pour un peu + chèr que notre budget, mais tout était FULL et ils nous ont fait un prix.
Encore une chambre au 1er dans un joli bungalow avec terrasse, 2 superbes piscines entourées de transats, palmiers….on a eu du mal à en repartir le vendredi midi pour aller prendre notre avion!!

If you like surfing, if you are Australian, if you are going to have dinner in restaurant bare-chested, if you drink only beer, lived in thongs and bermuda shorts and if you are bleached : this showy city, cheap tourists’ mark, is made for you!

We just hated the atmosphere (we are annoyed every 2 seconds on the beach:  » sarong? « , « ices creams? « ,  » jewels? « ,  » massage? « ), streets are filled with Topshop, Starbucks and Surfing shops beadings for armoured tourists…Yurk.
Not indispensable to cross 3 Starbucks in 1 km ² in Bali.
Only the sunset was beautiful and to see, but otherwise we liked of all Kuta.
A day was even too so it is ugly and noisy.

Fortunately we took a charming hotel for our last night (found in Lonely Planet by arriving there) for little + expensive than our budget, but everything was FULL and they made us a discount.
Another room on the 1st floor in an attractive bungalow with terrace, 2 magnificent swimming pools surrounded with deckchairs, palm trees we had difficulty in leaving it on Friday noon to go to take our plane!!

Magnifique coucher de soleil (malgré les nuages) : le seul truc qui vaut le coup à Kuta, selon moi…

Pour conclure, Bali ça dépayse à fond, c’est loin (14 000 km), décalage horaire de 6 heures (+ 6 quand on y va, – 6 quand on revient….), les 18 heures d’avion c’est dur et faut partir motivé!
Perso je déteste l’avion, les aéroports et attendre : là avec les escales j’ai été servie!

Si vous avez envie de déconnecter un peu c’est pas mal, même si je n’ai pas aimé la circulation en masse et la pollution étouffante (ils roulent tous à la Gazoline qui pue).
Par contre les balinais(e)s sont adorables, très souriants, arrangeants, polis et curieux de savoir votre « name » et « where do you come from »…
« Aaaah, Paris! Yes yes, comment ça va? » Ils savent dire quelques trucs, c’est rigolo.
Notre guide de la journée vélo nous a fait exploser de rire quand il nous a sorti « C’est parti mon kiki!« 
Les enfants sont trop drôles et les petites filles me faisaient toutes de très belles révérences très grâcieuses!
Là bas on mange BIEN pour rien du tout (environ 6-7€ à deux, boissons comprises), on a déjeuné et diné dans plein de restaus sympas à Ubud, dont le magnifique Café Lotus, entouré de fleurs de lotus sur un plan d’eau, très romantique!

To conclude, Bali confuses profoundly, it’s far (14 000 km), jet lag of 6 hours (+ 6 when we go there, – 6 when we return), the 18 hours of plane it is hard and needs to leave motivated!
I hate plane, airports and waiting : there, with the stopovers I was served!

If you want to disconnect a little it is not bad, even if I didn’t like the huge traffic and the stifling pollution (they all drive with Gazoline which stinks).
On the other hand the Balinese are adorable, very smiling, arrangeants, polite and curious to know your « name » and  » where doh you come from « …
 » Aaaah, Paris! Yes yes, how are you?  » they know how to say some things, it’is funny.:)
Our guide of the day bike blew up to us to laugh when he told us :  » C’est parti mon kiki!  » (I can’t translate this…help?)
The children are too funny and the girls made for me all of very beautiful reverences very graceful!
There, you eat very WELL for almost nothing (on average 6-7€ for both, drinks included), we had lunch and diner in many nice places in Ubud, thus the wonderful Café Lotus with many lotus flowers on water around, very romantic !

Un beau voyage en somme, très carte postale, très tendance (tout le monde y va, et de + en + car c’est finalement abordable, surtout sur place), donc à faire une fois dans sa vie si on aime la mer, la chaleur tropicale et les balades dans de beaux endroits reculés.
J’en garde un super souvenir, c’était magnifique!

A beautiful journey as a matter of fact, very postcard, very trend (everybody goes there, more and more, because it is finally accessible, especially on the spot), thus to be made once in a life if you like sea, tropical heat and strolls in beautiful put off places.
I will keep this journey in my mind, it was magnificent!
